Why is Sedation Dentistry so Valuable?
Dental sedation doesn’t prevent pain, like anesthesia - instead, it helps keep your nerves from rising during your appointment. Sedation is right for so many patients, including children, adults, and seniors. If you tend to get nervous about dental procedures, know that you’re not alone and that sedation is probably appropriate for you.
There are several types of sedation to fit unique patient needs. A few of these include:
- Oral conscious - This form of sedation is prescribed before your procedure so that you can take it 1-2 hours before your appointment. That way, once you’re in the dental chair, you’re already relaxed.
- Nitrous oxide - Nitrous is inhaled throughout the course of your treatment and induces a state of calm.
Remember, if you ever receive sedation, you will need to arrange for a ride to and from your procedure - it won’t be safe for you to drive.
Sedation transforms patient attitudes, and it could help yours. Just let us know if you’re interested.
